I'm trying to get back into shape. I rode my bike 30 minutes, and it feels like I'm about to die. It's frustrating to me how quickly one can get out of shape, and how long it takes to get back in! That's just not right! It shouldn't take me long, though. All I have to eat is fish, canned veggies, and canned pears... I'll be 89 pounds by the time this is over!
The Friendly/Crazy Trail Woman - I'm determined to show kindness in these days. I don't see people much, but when I do, I always speak to them. When I go out on the trail, I say hello to everyone I see. I just want them to know we aren't as isolated as we feel. Most people are very ready to speak back.
Right now, the person I've spoken to the most, is my neighbor. She's a police officer. I appreciate all she does. We had a long conversation in the sunshine yesterday. And, thank you so much, healthcare workers. I can't even tell you how much I appreciate all you're doing. Your self-sacrifice. Thank you.
It's a little funny though. You may notice this where you are, depending on how locked down you are, and how close you are to people. Everyone is going to great lengths to make sure everyone else knows they're healthy. It's allergy season. A million things are blooming. Yet, we are all not even clearing our throats in public. If you sneeze, you'll get stoned right now, for being out of your home. I've never seen so many people feigning health!
For such crappy news from around the world, it sure is absolutely beautiful outside!
Don't you hate it when you, in your journey of getting older, randomly do a normal, everyday motion, and it pulls something, or snaps something, or wads something random up, and then you can't use your thumb... What even.
It's been so kind of the news to add the sign-language interpreters for us to watch while they talk. Their faces... I can't do anything but watch them.
I'm going to try to go to a grocery store today. Just the one right next to me. I'm going right when they open. It may not even work. But, we will see. I haven't been to a store in over two weeks.
This is our first day to shelter in place. I told Jenny last night, that Tula, and her grandkids are going to ask her all about this. I said, two weeks ago, flippantly, that the coronavirus was going to be a paragraph in the history books. I'm thinking it might get its own chapter! People have asked me my September 11th story, Well, this one might even be more interesting.
Kindness
Many scriptures I have read for years. Many have been highlighted. I see them all in a new light, which I'm so thankful for. I read this one this morning:
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other, as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." Colossians 3:12-14
What an incredible message for us this morning. If there is a statement more wrapped in love, I don't know where there is one. I hope we can not get down during this time. It's easy to feel that way, especially when the news just keeps coming in. I think our responsibility, as followers of Christ, is to show kindness to others. To use little things to show people you care.
Hot Corn:
3 cans corn, drained
1 stick of butter....I know.... Well, you can work it off...
1 8oz cream cheese
3 jalapenos
Mix corn, cream cheese and butter together. Cut jalapenos in small pieces
Mix into corn
Bake at 350, for about 30 minutes.
I've had this recipe before, and it was so good. I hope you enjoy it!
Stay safe, y'all. Reach out. Be kind. Love.
